1. General Information
1.1. This regulation defines the procedure and rules for holding
the international competition for young pianists
“The 1st Carl Bechstein Piano Competition for Young Pianists (Thailand)” in 2021 (hereinafter – the Competition) –
The Rising Stars Categories.
1.2. The Competition is held once every 2 years.
1.3. The founder of the Competition is 101 Piano & Strings Co., Ltd. under supervision of C.Bechstein Sales & Service GmbH.
1.4. The Competition is for Thai Citizen or who is residence in Thailand for not less than 2 years.
2. Main objectives of the Competition
2.1. To acknowledge and develop the traditions of piano pedagogy, including:
2.1.1. The identification of current trends in children’s piano pedagogy.
2.1.2. Acknowledgment of exceptional pedagogical work of teachers and educational institutions.
2.2. Providing opportunities for new forms of performance.
2.3. Improving and expanding participants’ performance capabilities and repertoire.
2.4. Acknowledgement of gifted and promising individuals, leading to their professional development.
2.5. Celebrating the profession of piano pedagogy.

4. Terms of the Competitions
4.1. Competition is open to young pianists in specific categories separated by age.
4.2. The Competition is held in five age groups:
4.2.1. Infant Group : up to 6 years old inclusive
4.2.2. Group A: 9 years old and under
4.2.3. Group B : 12 years old and under
4.2.4. Group C : 14 years old and under
4.2.5. Group E : 18 years old and under
4.3. The age of participants in each age group of the competition is determined by 1 November 2021.
4.4. Competition is held in accordance with the repertoire depending on each participants’ choice.
5. Procedures for the Competition
5.1. Applications should be submitted to the organizer before 15 February 2022.
5.2. The live competition will be held in 4-6 April 2022.
5.3. Performance order will be determined via lottery and will be posted on the official website

6. Performance Requirements
6.1. Performances are to be done by memory.
6.2. The duration of the performance will be noted in
the program requirements.
6.3. Performances that do not comply with the program requirements will be subject to disqualification.
6.4. Contest organizers reserve the right to make changes and adjustments to the program requirements.
6.5. Announcement of the finalists not later than 25 February 2022
7. Program Requirements
7.1. Infant Group : 6 years old inclusive
Program duration up to 5 minutes – free program
7.2. Group A : 9 years old and under
Program duration of up to 8 minutes – free program
7.3. Group B : 12 years old and under
Program duration of up to 10 minutes. – free program
7.4. Group C : 14 years old and under
Program duration of up to 15 minutes – free program
7.5. Group D : 18 years old and under
Program duration of up to 25 minutes – free program
8. Jury
8.1. The jury’s responsibility is to evaluate the participants’ performance.
8.2. The jury will consist of leading teachers and professors.
8.3. The jury will be determined by the organizers.
8.4. The jury’s decisions will be a result of discussion and are open to internal voting.
8.5. The jury’s decisions are final and are not subject to review.
9. Application Process
9.1. The required documentation is as follows:
9.1.1. Filled out application submitted as a docx. or pdf. file.
9.1.2. A copy of the participant’s birth certificate or passport.
9.1.3. A photo submitted electronically (900×1130 pixels).
9.2. The application will be supplied by the organizers.
9.3. The application is not accepted if the declared program does not meet the conditions of the competition, the documents are not available in full or the deadline for their submission to the organizer is violated.
10. Award Winners
10.1. All participants are awarded with diplomas of the competition.
10.2. The winners of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in each age group, will be awarded with the title “Laureate,” awarded diplomas, and memorable gifts.
10.3. The organizational committee in consultation with the Jury can establish special prizes, including the “Grand Prix” title.
10.4. The jury reserves the right to not distribute all prizes.
10.5. One prize can be given to several contestants.
10.6. Teachers of laureate and diploma winners are also given memorable gifts.

11.1. Last name, first name of the participant
11.2. Age of the participant (as of 1 November 2021)
11.3. Age Group
11.4. Date of birth
11.5. School (full name)
11.6. Name of teacher (in full, indicating honorary titles) and signature
11.7. The free programs should be indicating the timing of each (specify the composers with initials, keys only alphabetically, when specifying opusa, write “opus”, not “composition”)
11.8. Additional attachments to the application:
11.8.1. Copy of participant’s birth certificate (passport).
11.8.2. Portrait photo in electronic format with a resolution of 950*570 pixels (if the photo is horizontal) and 900*1130 pixels (if the photo is vertical).
