The 1st Carl Bechstein Piano Competition for Young Pianists (Thailand)
Performance Requirements
Performances are to be done by memory.
Repertoire may not be repeated, ie. pieces performed in the 1st round may not be performed again in the 2nd round. But the repeat from DVD round is acceptable.
The duration of the performance will be noted in the program requirements.
Performances that do not comply with the program requirements will be subject to disqualification.
Contest organizers reserve the right to make changes and adjustments to the program requirements.
Free program for DVD Round
Group A & B : not more than 6 minutes
Group C, D & E : not more than 10 minutes
Professional Category : not more than 15 minutes
Note: DVD with no sound editing but with high definition VDO quality would be much preferable. Low quality DVD would be less preferable by jury.

Program Requirements - 1st Round
Group A (up to 6 years old inclusive) A1, A2
Program can be repeated from DVD Round. Duration of up to 6 minutes.
Group B (7-8 years old inclusive) : B1, B2
1. One Polyphonic work by JS Bach. - Little Preludes or Two Part Invention
2. Virtuosic etude. Duration of up to 7 minutes.
Group C (9-10 years old inclusive) : C1, C2
1. One Polyphonic work by J.S. Bach. - Two or Three Part Invention
2. A virtuosic Etude.
3. A work of the participant’s choice Duration of up to 10 minutes.
Group D (11-12 years old inclusive) : D1, D2
1. Two Pieces Polyphonic work by J.S. Bach. - Two or Three Part Invention or at least 2 dances from Suite or Partita (Containing a Courant or gigue).
2. A virtuosic Etude.
3. One or more works of the participant’s choice. Duration of up to 15 minutes.
Group E (13-14 years old inclusive) : E1, E2
1. Polyphonic work by J.S. Bach. -A Suite, Partita (at least three dances, one of which is a Courant or a Giga), Well Tempered Clavier.
2. A virtuosic Etude.
3. One or more works of the participant’s choice. Duration of up to 15 minutes.
Program Requirements - 2nd Round
Group B (7-8 years old inclusive) : B1, B2
1. One or more works of the participant’s choice. Duration of up to 7 minutes.
Group C (9-10 years old inclusive) : C1, C2
1. A Classical Sonatina 1st Movement or 2nd & 3rd Movement.
2. One or more works of the participant’s choice. Duration of up to 10 minutes.
Group D (11-12 years old inclusive) : D1, D2
1. Work of Viennese classics 1st Movement or 2nd & 3rd Movement of Sonata or Rondo or Variation by J. Haydn, W.A. Mozart, Clementi or L. van Beethoven.
2. A work of the participant’s choice. Duration of up to 15 minutes.
Group E (13-14 years old inclusive) : E1, E2
1. Work of Viennese classics 1st Movement or 2nd & 3rd Movement of Sonata or Rondo or Variation or Concerto by J. Haydn, W.A. Mozart, Clementi or L. van Beethoven.
2. A work of the participant’s choice. Duration of up to 20 minutes.
Professional Category ( up to 17 years old inclusive)
Program can be repeated from DVD round up to 25 minutes

Jury
The jury’s responsibility is to evaluate the participants’ performance.
The jury will consist of leading teachers and professors.
The jury will be determined by the organizers.
The jury’s decisions will be a result of discussion and are open to internal voting.
The jury’s decisions are final and are not subject to review.
