Terms of the Competitions
Competition is open to young pianists in specific categories separated by age.
The Competition is held in six age groups:
Group A: up to 6 years old inclusive
A1: up to 5 years
A2: 6 years old
Group B: 7-8 years old inclusive
B1: 7 years old
B2: 8 years old
Group C: 9-10 years old inclusive
C1: 9 years old
C2: 10 years old
Group D: 11-12 years old inclusive
D1: 11 years old
D2: 12 years old
Group E: 13-14 years old inclusive
E1: 13 years old
E2: 14 years old
Professional Category up to 17 years old inclusive
Group A: up to 6 years old inclusive
A1: up to 5 years
A2: 6 years old
Group B: 7-8 years old inclusive
B1: 7 years old
B2: 8 years old
Group C: 9-10 years old inclusive
C1: 9 years old
C2: 10 years old
Group D: 11-12 years old inclusive
D1: 11 years old
D2: 12 years old
Group E: 13-14 years old inclusive
E1: 13 years old
E2: 14 years old
Professional Category up to 17 years old inclusive
- The age of participants in each age group of the competition is determined by 1 November, 2021.
- Competition is held in accordance with the repertoire requirements which are to be determined and released.
At C. Bechstein Germany and C. Bechstein Europe,
piano-makers build musical masterpieces by hand.
Procedures for the Competition
- Applications for the preliminary round consisting of pre-recorded video submissions will be accepted until 1 December 2021. Videos should be recorded no more than 6 months before the date of the submission. The video must be recorded live in one take, without any additional technological manipulation, sound editing or processing. The video shall be recorded with one or two microphones in high quality.
- Applicants who pass the preliminary round will be invited to participate in the 1st round which will also consist of video submissions. Successful applicants are to be determined by a jury, and they will be able to move on to the 2nd round.
- The live competition will be held in 4-6 April 2022
- Performance order will be determined via lottery and will be posted on the official website www.bechsteincompetitionthailand.com
